OUR HISTORY

The Osun Chapter was officially established on May 18th, 2017, when a group of dedicated alumni generously donated their resources to initiate the "Code Osun" community development project. This groundbreaking project brought together selected high school students for an intensive 8-week training program in basic programming languages, equipping them with valuable skills for the future.

Our chapter's formal inauguration took place with the support of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, led by Public Affairs Officer, Aruna Amirthanayagam. With additional backing from the US Consulate Public Affairs Section, the project expanded to its second phase in October 2017. This phase saw 30 students selected from six community high schools within Osun West Senatorial Districts, where the beneficiaries of the "Code Osun" program created innovative software applications.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Know How Much We have achieved

2018
In 2018, the Osun Chapter partnered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State, along with support from the US Consulate. This partnership led to the successful execution of a Voters' Education Project, using strategic media and advocacy efforts to raise citizens' awareness and participation in the democratic process, specifically the Osun State 2018 Gubernatorial Election. This project reached over 500,000 eligible voters and engaged numerous stakeholders, including political party representatives, market women's association leaders, and members of various civil society organizations.
2019
The chapter organized a Food Bank Initiative and Health Clinic for 100 vulnerable individuals from across the state capital, in collaboration with the Medical mission team of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Hospital, Jaleyemi, Osogbo. The event included health talks, free medical consultations, drug distribution, and food item distribution to help alleviate the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.
2022
With the continued support of the U.S. Consulate, the Osun Chapter implemented an Awareness and Advocacy Project to Advance Gender Equality in the Osun State 2022 Gubernatorial Election. The project aimed to promote free, fair, and credible elections by increasing women and youth's political participation and inclusion in the electoral process.
